1984 album by Japanese composer and multi-instrumentalist Takashi Toyoda, known for his participation in the Taj Mahal Travellers as well as for leaving behind a number of remarkable New Age works. This was the first installment in Toyoda’s trilogy released on Sound of Tranquility, the label launched by King Records for its healing music series. For this recording, Toyoda brought an array of synthesizers and equipment into Abukuma Cave, a limestone cavern in Takine, Fukushima, and captured the music live using the cave’s natural echo. All compositions are inspired by the ancient earth, the sun, the ocean floor, the land, natural phenomena, and life itself, with the mysterious sound of the synthesizers and the cavern’s organic resonance combining to create a deeply meditative sonic landscape.
