A 1983 album by Do’a, the adventurous American world-music ensemble formed by Ken LaRoche and Randy Armstrong. Featuring six musicians, the album combines Western instruments with a wide variety of traditional instruments from around the world, along with an Oberheim OB-Xa synthesizer, creating a distinctive blend of new age, ethno-jazz, and borderless traditional influences. A3 is especially outstanding, incorporating chants from Uganda’s Bahá’í community, which has served as a symbol of religious and tribal unity in East Africa. A beautifully realized piece in which spiritual tradition and contemporary sound come together seamlessly.
