American pianist Keith Jarrett, who made a name for himself in his 20s with such historic masterpieces as "Solo Concert" and "Koln Concert," released this album in 1972 as his first release after moving to ECM. This album is a masterpiece of piano solo works, all of which are based on his own compositions, and features piano performances filled with positive energy that take traditional American jazz influences to a new level. The engineering by Jan Erik Kongshaug, who has worked with ECM on many ECM albums, is also excellent.
