This is a 1977 trio album featuring the Canadian jazz pianist Paul Bley, known for his participation in groups like the Ornette Coleman Quartet and the Jazz Composer's Orchestra, as well as for his outstanding solo works on ECM. Joining him on this album are the guitarist Bill Connors, who has released excellent solo works on ECM, and the veteran saxophone player Lee Konitz. Released on the Improvising Artists Inc. label under the leadership of Paul Bley, this album showcases the trio's mastery of deep jazz. Bley alternates between acoustic and electric piano, weaving delicate melodies, and his play is complemented by the lyrical melodies layered by Konitz and Connors. The combination is superb, creating the pinnacle of deep jazz. Highly recommended.
