This album was eleased in 1976 by the American drummer Roy Haynes, who later pursued cutting-edge jazz with more experimental jazz musicians after performed with a lot of legendaly musisican such as Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Wardell Gray, and Stan Getz. It includes recordings from a live performance in Rome, Italy in 1975 with a quintet consisting of Don Pate (bass), Mark Fiorillo (guitar), John Mosley (trumpet), and Bill Saxton (tenor saxophone). While A1 immerses you in a swaying groove reminiscent of springtime rather than summertime, A2, a cover of Thelonious Monk, is also excellent. However, the highlight of this album is undoubtedly the funky jazz B1, which concludes with a powerful drumming performance by Haynes and cool guitar work by Fiorillo, featuring a catchy chorus. Highly recommended.
