Wilson Simonal
Odeon (Brazil) 1965
MOFB 3419 (LP) Mono, Plastic-covered sleeve
sleeve : VG+(SOC, dirts, light damages on plastic cover)
media : VG+/VG+(light noise caused by scratches)

Featured in the first edition of the guidebook Obscure Sound, which also included his 1979 album Se Todo Mundo Cantasse Seria Bem Mais Fácil Viver, this is a 1965 release by Wilson Simonal, one of the leading singers of Brazil’s MPB scene. The album was produced by Milton Miranda, who worked on numerous releases for the Brazilian Odeon label, including Marcos Valle’s landmark Previsão do Tempo, as well as recordings by Dorival Caymmi, Clara Nunes, Simone, and many others. Musically, the album is rooted in breezy pop, lounge jazz, and elegant easy listening influenced by American popular music, but what truly stands out is the lush orchestral sound and Simonal’s highly expressive vocals. His charm and versatility can be enjoyed throughout the entire record. Original Brazilian pressing with a vinyl-coated sleeve. Mono edition with superbly warm, full-bodied sound.
