This album was released in 1983 by the Brazilian group Camerata Carioca, formed in 1979 with Joel Nascimento and Mauricio Carrilho at its core. Featuring a lineup of viola, mandolin, saxophone, flute, and percussion, their unplugged acoustic sound delves into the style of Choro, a popular music genre established in Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century. From scores by renowned Brazilian composers like Pixinguinha and Villa-Lobos to compositions by the great Argentine bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla, the album presents a richly emotional interpretation of a wide range of music.
