This is the 1985 release by Candela, a group of Latinos based in Germany, whose first album was introduced in the guidebook "obscure sound: 640 Selections of Utopian Records". While their debut album showcased a psychedelic, refined take on Santana-esque salsa rock, this album takes a more innovative turn. Featuring prominently synthesized sounds including DX-7 and Prophet 5, and even incorporating synth drums, the band drops Cuban rhythms into a four-on-the-floor beat, resulting in a highly original sound. Tracks like A3 blend adult-oriented dance sound with salsa, while B4 delivers a mind-bending mix of trippy synth SE and breakbeats reminiscent of Bill Laswell. It's quite refreshing and highly recommended.
A3: Mentiroso
B4: Libertad con el Guaguanco
