This album was featured in the first edition of the guidebook Obscure Sound. A true masterpiece released in 1988 by Ney Matogrosso, the vocalist of the Brazilian psychedelic band Secos e Molhados, who left behind two intense albums in the 1970s. Highlights include a Brazilian reggae track on A3 with groovy percussion rhythms and dynamic vocal/chorus interplay, a beautiful ballad on A4 where Ney’s rich, sensual vocals gently dance over the melancholic melodies of an acoustic guitar, and a samba on A5 that radiates the kind of positive energy that could be described as the very soul of Brazil. This brilliant album captures Ney’s artistic vision at the height of his maturity. The sound quality is remarkably lush and moist—almost unthinkably refined for a Brazilian pressing.

A2: Dama Do Cassino
A3: Chavao Abre Porta Grande
A5: Recompensa
B4: Tudo e Amor
