Brazilian trombonist Raul De Barros, active since the 1940s and internationally known for his co-composition “Copacabana” with Alberto Ribeiro, as well as his 1964 performances as a member of Sérgio Mendes & Brasil ’66, released this album in 1974 on the Marcus Pereira label. Opening with the classic choro masterpiece A1 “Na Glória”, composed by Barros himself, the album showcases his unique style that blends deeply rooted, highly improvisational Brazilian folk music with elements reminiscent of jazz. This landmark work offers a definitive experience of Barros’ choro performances, which also influenced samba and bossa nova.
