Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, whose father was the great Bengali (now Bangladeshi) musician Allauddin Khan, and who himself is one of the most important musicians in Indian classical music, has left behind many masterpieces. This is his historic 1968 release featuring American actress Yvette Mimieux. This is a spoken word piece in which Mimieux recites poems from the French poet Charles Baudelaire's "Flowers of Evil," accompanied by Khan's sarod/lute and Pandit Mahapurush Misra's tabla. It unfolds dramatically with intonation, invite us to a deep transformation of consciousness.
