A 1987 release by Polish pianist Adam Makowicz, who had delivered many celebrated performances since the early 1970s alongside Michal Urbaniak, Tomasz Stanko, and others. Recorded in Stockholm in 1986, the album features a trio with Swedish musicians Palle Danielsson (bass) and Jon Christensen (drums), both of whom also left many masterpieces on ECM. While rooted in an orthodox hard-bop style, the recording showcases Makowicz’s hallmark piano playing—light, fluid, and delivered with dazzling speed in delicate melodic lines. Danielsson and Christensen’s rhythmic interplay is, as always, second to none, even within this style.
