Japanese pianist Aki Takahashi, whose brother is one of Japan's leading contemporary musicians, Yuji Takahashi, and who is highly regarded in the contemporary music scene, released a solo piano album in 1983 featuring the music of Erik Satie. The album opens with "Cinq Nocturnes," a piece from Satie's later years, followed by "Avant-dernieres pensees," a collection of three pieces, "Pourde d'or," a waltz Satie composed for orchestra, and "Pantomime," a piece he composed as music for a pantomime but never performed. The "Jack in the Box" was composed as music for a pantomime, but was never performed.
