This is a 1985 album by the American saxophonist Albert Ayler, who made a name for himself as a pioneer of avant-garde jazz in 1960s New York. It's a 2-vinyl box set consisting of an LP and a 12-inch single. The LP features live recordings from a concert held in 1966 in the town of Lörrach in southwestern Germany, organized by the South Western Radio Network. The 12-inch single includes live recordings from the Paris Jazz Festival held in Paris, France, in the same year. The quintet performing on these recordings includes Albert Ayler on saxophone, Don Ayler on trumpet, Michel Sampson on violin, William Folwell on bass, and Beaver Harris on drums. The album includes tracks such as A1 from the acclaimed 1965 release "Bells" on ESP Disk and C1/C2 from the 1965 album "Ghost." It's a remarkable work that allows you to savor the passionate and distinctive style of Ayler during that vibrant period.
