An album featuring a live recording of American saxophonist Albert Ayler, who made a name for himself as a leading figure in avant-garde jazz in 1960s New York, performing in 1964 in Hilversum, Netherlands, for a radio broadcast with his quartet, including Don Cherry (cornet), Gary Peacock (bass), and Sunny Murray (drums). While the performances of his signature pieces such as "Angels" (A1), "Ghosts" (A3), and "Spirits" (B2) are, of course, outstanding, there’s something deeply moving about Ayler playing "Infant Happiness" (B1), a track later featured on Cherry’s 1967 Blue Note masterpiece Symphony for Improvisers.
A1: Ghost
B1: Infant Happiness
