This is an album released by American saxophonist Albert Ayler in 1965 on ESP-Disk’, establishing his name as a pioneer of avant-garde jazz in 1960s New York. The album features recordings made in New York in 1964 with a trio consisting of Gary Peacock (b) and Sunny Murray (per). It stands as a masterpiece representing ESP-Disk’, showcasing Ayler's highly original world where themes of ghosts, spirits, and wizards are expressed through melodies that rise up like soulful cries from the depths of the soul. The rhythm section provided by Peacock and Murray is also superb. This is a Japanese pressing from Victor in 1972.
