A 1969 masterpiece by German jazz trombonist Albert Mangelsdorff, featuring Don Cherry, Elvin Jones, Karl Berger, Attila Zoller, Lee Konitz and Wolfgang Dauner. It was recorded in Baden-Baden. Mangelsdorff and Terry Riley's collaboration on A1 is a wonderful, almost conversational, exchange. Don Cherry's chants are also excellent, as are Attila Zoller's guitar playing on B1 and the tension-filled session with pianist Wolfgang Dauner on B3.
