This is a 2005 UK reissue of the super classic 1st album released in 1970 by Argentine jazz pianist Alberto Favero, who was featured in the guidebook "Obscure Sound: 640 Picks from the Land of Utopia" for his 1987 work. Many famous Argentine jazz musicians participated, including Horacio "Chivo" Borraro, Roberto Fernandez, Jorge Rodrigues, and Bernardo Baraj. As the subtitle "In Memoriam John Coltrane" suggests, this work is dedicated to the legendary US jazz giant John Coltrane, and the magnificent suite composed of five parts is believed to be an homage to John Coltrane's historic masterpiece "A Love Supreme," and shares many similarities with US spiritual jazz artists who followed in John Coltrane's footsteps, such as Archie Shepp. The deep worldview of side B, in particular, is simply superb. This is an essential album for discussing Argentine jazz, along with Chivo Borraro's masterpiece "Blues para un Cosmonauta."
