Originally featured in the first edition of the guidebook obscure sound, this 1977 album by the rock trio America — comprising Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek — was produced by none other than George Martin, famed for his legendary work with The Beatles. While rooted in the classic West Coast rock style that blends blues, country, and folk influences, the album embraces a breezy, AOR-inflected soft rock sound throughout — perfectly reflected in the sunlit imagery of its sleeve. The standout track is B2, a slow, subtly Balearic-tinged number where crisp acoustic guitar strumming, mellow bass lines, and elegant string arrangements come together beautifully. A refreshingly smooth and effortlessly refined listen.
