This album was released in 1976 by Andrew Hill, an American pianist who left many masterpieces for Blue Note from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s. Recorded with Richard Davis (b) and Roger Blank (ds) at Vanguard Studio in the same year. This is one of the best pieces to experience Hill's individuality as a composer/pianist who further deepened his own musicality after entering the 1970s, including A1, which was also performed again on an album to be released the following year; the title track B1, which depicts a fragile yet beautiful scene with Davis' arco technique; and B3, which creates a unique world view with drums, bass, and piano intertwined in a unique balance.
