This is a 1972 album released by Anthony Braxton, who hails from the avant-garde arts organization AACM in Chicago and has left over 100 works since the 1960s, playing various reed instruments. The album features recordings made in Paris, France, in the same year with a quartet consisting of Michael Smith (p), Oliver Johnson (ds), and Peter Warren (b). While the passionate rendition of Charlie Parker's score on A1 and the unrestrained performance of jazz standards on B1 are commendable, it's the original compositions on A2/B1 that truly showcase Braxton's prowess in contemporary music with his exceptional scoring. This is an original French pressing.
