This 1986 release by American saxophonist Archie Shepp, one of the undisputed giants of spiritual jazz who left behind countless masterpieces that even confronted racial issues head-on, is a remarkable album issued on Italy’s renowned jazz label Soul Note. The recordings were made in a Milan studio in 1985, featuring an outstanding lineup that includes Enrico Rava (tp, fh), Siegfried Kessler (p, syn), Wilbur Little (b), and Clifford Jarvis (dr).
