sleeve : M(IN SHRINK)
media : VG+/VG+(some light wear on both side. side A has light warp that does not affect to playback.)
An exceptionally obscure one arrival. Released in 1972 on Indian Records Inc., the Oklahoma-based U.S. label specializing in Native American traditional music. This album documents 18 ceremonial and social songs of the Arikara (Sahnish) people residing on the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota. Included are the Flag Song — serving a role akin to a national anthem — and pieces accompanying the traditional Plains Grass Dance, among others. A highly valuable document capturing the distinctive musical style of the Arikara, shaped by their deep history as settled agricultural people of the Missouri River basin and their enduring spiritual worldview.
Deadstock, unused copy; shrink opened in-house for condition check. Light paper scuffing from the original inner sleeve and a mild storage warp on Side A from prolonged shrink tension are present, neither affecting playback.
