An album released in 1978 by Norwegian bassist Arild Andersen, a key figure who left countless classics on Germany’s forward-thinking jazz label ECM Records and continues to shine across a wide range of sessions. Like the previous year’s acclaimed Shmri—also featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION—this is a quartet recording with Juhani Aaltonen (ts, ss, ft), Lars Jansson (p, synth), and Pål Thowsen (ds, per). From the cool, understated drive of B1—where a light-footed samba rhythm races ahead with effortless grace—to the rest of the program, this record delivers superb compositions throughout, seamlessly blending rhythmic groove with a refined, elegant atmosphere. A true standout from start to finish. Highly recommended.
