Art Ensemble of Chicago, a group formed by Roscoe Mitchell, Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors and Joseph Jarman and based in Chicago, USA, that developed free/experimental jazz with roots in traditional African music. This album was released in 1972. Drummer/percussionist Don Moye had already joined the group. The album opens with very primitive percussion, giving the illusion of being lost in an untamed jungle deep in Africa on A1, and then moves to A2/B1, where various percussion and lead groups scatter through the space like animal noises around Favors' bass solo, before B2 features an intense B2 is a chaos of intense free improvisation. This is one of the most ethnic-tinged of the early AEOC releases. Highly recommended.

A1: Chi-Congo
A2: Enlorfe - 1st part
B1: Enlorfe - 2nd part
