The Art Ensemble of Chicago, an American Chicago group of Lester Bowie, Joeph Jarman, Roscoe Mitchell, and Malachi Favors that developed free/experimental jazz with roots in traditional African music, released This album was released in 1969. Recorded in Boulogne-Billancourt, France in the same year, side A is 17 minutes long and side B is 23 minutes long of free jazz. The B-side plunges into a chaotic sound spectrum with raging improvisations. Highly recommended. 1978 reissue from Toshiba-EMI's "Jazz All Time Favorites 1800" series, and sounds superb.
