This is a leader album by American trombonist Bennie Green, who emerged in the 1940s as a member of big bands such as J.C. Heard and His Orchestra and 6 Bips and a Bop, and went on to play with many groups. Released in 1956 by Prestige, the quintet features Eric Dixon (tenor sax), Lloyd Mayers (piano), Sonny Wellesley (bass), and Bill English (drums), with recording by Rudy Van Gelder. The album includes standout tracks like the ballad A2, showcasing a wonderful interplay with Dixon's sultry saxophone, and B1, where the brisk rhythm section and Green's smooth trombone melodies create a pleasing sound. The performances throughout are relaxed and feature a floating ensemble feel. This is a limited reissue released by Original Jazz Classics in 1990.
