Hesse Between Music
Wergo Spectrum (Germany) 1977
SM 1015 (LP) w/insert.
sleeve : VG+(SOC, wear on edge and corner, collapse on one corner.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)
A 1974 album that brings together the music of Between, the pioneering German avant-garde ensemble led by Peter Michael Hamel, and the poetry recitations of Gert Westphal reading works by Hermann Hesse. Alongside pieces such as the jazz-arranged version of the classic “Om Namo Buddhaya” (A1) and A6, where sitar and organ create a solemn atmosphere over chant-like vocals evoking a state of awakening, the album also features more active moments such as A2, where Tom van der Geld’s vibraphone grooves with a supple energy. In addition to the spiritual and meditative contemporary ethnic sound familiar from other Between releases, this record expands their musical range beautifully. German pressing released in 1977 on Wergo Spectrum.
A2: Whistlin'
A6: Suside
