This is an album released in 1978 by Billy Harper, an American saxophonist who has played in groups with many great musicians such as Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Lee Morgan, etc., and has also performed in rare groove albums by Leon Thomas, Bobbi Humphrey, and others. This is a Japan-only release by Nippon Columbia. Greg Maker, Billy Hart, Horacee Arnold, Harold Mabern, and Evertt Hollins participate. The title track, an arrangement of the Japanese folk song "Soranbushi," is the highlight of the album. It is a superb performance that sublimates the song into a soulful spiritual jazz while retaining the atmosphere of the original.
