This 1980 album by drummer Bob Moses, who is also an excellent composer, features a quintet that includes Dave Liebman, Terumasa Hino, Steve Kuhn, Steve Swallow, and many others. Moses' ethnic-tinged works such as "When Elephants Dream of Music" and "Visit with the Great Spirit" have been popular in our store, but this album, features Moses' love for his roots in smoky, silver-toned playing, including orthodox bebop and modal jazz dedicated to Duke Ellington and Roy Haynes, and spiritual free jazz dedicated to John Coltrane and black liberation movement leader Malcom X. It is a very good performance. Very good playing.
