This is a total concept album released in 1984 by Bob Moses, a drummer who is also an excellent composer. David Liebman(ss,ts), Howard Johnson(bs etc.), David Samborn(as), Steve Swallow(b), Eddie Gomez(b), Steve Kuhn(p), Bill Frisell(g), John Scofield(g). The thrilling Avant Ethno Jazz A1 starts with indigenous drumming through a filter, B2 develops from a warm bossa beat to a strong batucada. B3, which has a great flow from the improvised first half reminiscent of Nana Vasconcelos to the raging percussion sound of the second half. This is an amazing work of big band style ethnic jazz with a theme of the third world and a lot of experimental elements.
