American vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, who emerged in New York in the early 1960s, participated in the recording of Jackie McLean's classic album "One Step Beyond", and later made a name for himself in sessions with Eric Dolphy, Andrew Hill, and others. This album released in 1969 from Blue Note, and Harold Land (ts,ft), Chick Corea (p), Reggie Johnson (b), and Joe Chambers (ds) participate on it. It opens with A1, a groovy hard bop filled with a sense of speed and freshness, followed by A2, a mood jazz tune with Land's tenor dancing in a lustrous manner, and the entire album is a masterpiece of superb playing enveloped in a comfortable atmosphere. B3, with its cool groove of vibes and flutes with a light ethnic feel, is especially recommended. This is a reissue in1985 release with DMM cutting. I guess it was probably cut in Germany, and the transparent sound quality is very good.
