This is an album released by American pianist Bobby Timmons in 1960 from Riverside, after joining Kenny Dorham, Chet Baker, and Sonny Stitt's groups in the mid-1950s and then becoming active with Art Blakey's The Jazz Messengers in 1958. It features recordings made in New York in the same year with a quartet including Blue Mitchell (tp), Sam Jones (b), and Art Blakey (ds). It showcases Timmons' original scores, including the funky grooves of A1, which unfolds in 3/4 time, and A2, first performed on The Jazz Messengers' acclaimed album "A Night in Tunisia." This masterpiece displays Timmons' soulful funky jazz at its finest. It was reissued domestically in 1995 as part of Victor's "Analog Selection Series Riverside Edition." This series really does have excellent sound quality.
A1: Soul Time
A2: So Tired
