A 1974 album released by Composers Recordings, Inc., the non-profit label founded in 1954 to promote works by American composers. It features compositions by Brian Fennelly, who studied composition and music theory at Yale University and later served for many years as a professor of music in the Faculty of Arts and Science at New York University, alongside works by William Hibbard, who earned a doctorate in composition from the New England Conservatory and the University of Iowa before pursuing a career as a composer, conductor, violist, and educator. Particularly outstanding is Fennelly’s three-part electronic work, scored for an ensemble of alto flute, cello, clarinet, and violin, with tape processing carried out by the composer himself. An exceptionally fine example of electroacoustic composition.
