American guitarist Bruce Johnson, known for his work with Errol Parker’s group, collaborations with Enrico Rava, and his 1979 Strata-East release with Rodney Jones, released this album in 1980. Featuring a sextet with John Abercrombie, Enrico Rava, Chip White, Hugo Heredia, and vocalist Bonnie Brown, the record explores a wide range of moods and styles. True to its title, it includes blues-infused jazz pieces inspired by the life of a blind Delta bluesman, as well as moody jazz vocal tracks featuring Brown. A remarkable album that showcases Johnson’s refined sense of crossover contemporary jazz throughout.
