Charlie Mariano (sax), Jasper Van't Hof (keys), Arild Andersen (b), Edward Vesala (dr). This quartet album was released in 1980 on the excellent Finnish jazz label Leo Records. It is easy to imagine that this quartet could not be bad, but it far exceeds expectations. A1 is a spacy mix of Vesala's free-form improvised drums and Van't Hof's synthesizer, A3 opens with Andersen's groovy bass solo and reminds us of Edward Vesala's classic album "Nan Madol" released on JAPO, and A4 is a great example of a quartet that also includes Eberhard Weber. The entire album is a deep and lyrical depiction of the landscape directly connected to ECM, including B1, where you can enjoy Andersen's excellent bass play and Van't Hof's cosmic synthesizer solo, which is as good as Eberhard Weber's. This is a masterpiece of organic contemporary jazz, a future classic without a doubt. Highly recommended.
