Private pressing (US) 1978
CV-001 (LP)
sleeve : VG+(SRW,WC,SOC,SPSE:1.5cm split on top seam, corner wear, light stains)
media : VG+/VG+(light surface noise in places due to fine scuffs)
An album released in 1978 by the group The Calypso Vibrations and Clem Grosvenor from Florida, USA. It seems to be the house band for a cruise ship sailing from Miami to the Caribbean. All members are Afro-Caribbean, with drums, bass, guitar, and steelpan. They cover Stevie Wonder, BeeGees, Commodores, and the "Rocky Theme" in a tropical style, but the out-of-key melodies of the steelpan and the extremely relaxed, laid-back vocals create an indescribable atmosphere. The looseness that only a steelpan group can achieve is fantastic. The Caribbean reggae B2, a cover of a Jimmy Criff song, is especially recommended. (Chee)
