Carioca is a Brazilian guitarist who has left behind some great works with experimental and minimalist elements, such as "7 Dias 7 Instrumentos Musica" released in 1984 on Egberto Gismonti's Carmo label.
This is his debut album, released in 1980, and was re-released in Australia in 1987 on Brasil Arts with new artwork. It features Sergio Otanazetra, Fernando, Ze Eduardo Nazario and Madrigal Verdas. With roots in Brazilian folk music, the album combines contemporary sensibilities with avant-garde elements to create a new Brazilian music that continues the spirit of predecessors such as Egberto Gismonti and Hermeto Pascoal. The title track is a magnificent 17-minute ethno-organic story.
