A 1981 album by American pianist and composer Carla Bley, who co-founded the Jazz Composers Orchestra Association with her husband Michael Mantler and made an enormous contribution to the jazz world, including efforts to protect musicians from commercial exploitation. Featuring Michael Mantler, Steve Swallow, Carlos Ward, and others, the album displays a deep affection for old jazz while romantically portraying scenes from everyday life in New York. Its richly narrative, story-like compositions are truly outstanding. German pressing with insert.
