Released in 1986, this is the second album by Cassandra Wilson, a rising singer from Mississippi who has been recognized on the major North American scene with a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in 1996 and Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2009. Wilson's sultry husky voice is complemented by the cool, urbane playing of Steve Coleman, Mark Johnson, Jean-Paul Bourelly and other musicians. There's a lot to like about this album, but the best tracks are A4 and B1, where Cassandra's blues-tinged performance is intoxicating.
A4: Desperate Move
B1: Love and Hste
