This album was released in 1973 by Charles McPherson, an American saxophonist who worked with Charles Mingus, Barry Harris, and Pepper Adams, and who himself has recorded a number of leader albums since the 1960s. Side A is a big band style hard bop with gorgeous arrangements by Ernie Wilkins, and side B is a quartet performance. The best of the two is A2, with its soft flute melody, and A3, an elegant cover of a John Coltrane classic. Recommended.
