Prince of Rai
Shanachie Records (US) 1989

media : EX-/EX-(Some parts have a slight noise, very slight bend that does not affect the playback)
This album was released in 1989 by Cheb Mami, one of the representative singers of the urban folk music "Rai" that flourished by Algerian-Arab musicians living in France. The album is an exotic and danceable sound, with a new interpretation of his roots in Arab music, with a large use of synthesizers and other electronic instruments. The songs are quite dense, but also have a deep element of spirituality.
