Released in 1988, this album is by Cheer-Accident, a group formed in Chicago in 1981 by Dante Kester on bass, Jeff Libersher on guitar, trumpet, and vocals, Evelyn Davis on vocals and keyboards, and Thymme Jones on drums, trumpet, and vocals. Highlights include B2, where distorted guitar and falsetto vocals intertwine with a mysterious slap-bass groove before erupting into a remarkable middle section driven by a freakish barrage of drums, and B3, with its cool, straight-ahead alternative rock sound. Incorporating contemporary touches through the use of acoustic piano, the album presents experimental rock with progressive, unpredictable developments, as its hard-hitting rhythm section and roaring electric guitars create a dark, almost otherworldly sonic space.
