Chick Corea
Piano Improvisations Vol. 1
ECM Records (Germany) 1971
ECM 1014 ST (LP) Original pressing. Coated sleeve.
MAT : A1/B1
sleeve : VG+(SRW, wear on corner, color-faaded, peel-off of laminate.)
media : EX-/EX-(some light noise caused by slightly hairlines.)
Discovered by Miles Davis and featured on such landmark recordings as In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, and On the Corner, jazz pianist Chick Corea—who also ignited a major fusion boom with his own 1972 masterpiece Return to Forever—released this album in 1971 as his first work after moving to ECM. As the title suggests, it is a solo piano album of complete free improvisation, a profound work that vividly reflects Corea’s spiritual and religious sensibilities. The melodies he weaves hint at the direction that would blossom in Return to Forever the following year. A record to immerse oneself in with a clear and open mind. This is the original first German pressing, with no spine text, no LC mark, and no “Made in Germany” indication.
