Album released in 1981 by American tenor saxophonist Chico Freeman, who has produced many masterpieces in his career, from avant/free to ethnic jazz and standards, and is highly regarded as a rare groove artist. A quartet with such virtuosos as Jack DeJohnette (ds), Cecil McBee (b) and John Hicks (p). Side A is a 19:40 minute session with a consistent groove from start to finish. B1 is an excellent slow number with a mysterious introduction where Freeman's low tenor and McBee's bass create a deep world, which was also performed again in 1983 in a different album. B2 is an odd time tune with a similarly mystic and mysterious atmosphere. McBee's bass is superb, anyway. This is a Japanese pressing released in the same year as original US pressing.
