Impulse! ABC Records (US) 1971
A-9174 (LP) Original pressing. coated gatefold sleeve.
sleeve : EX-(light wear and collapse on corner, some light dirts.)

A best-of album released in 1971 by Chico Hamilton, one of America’s foremost jazz drummers, known for his work with Lester Young, Gerry Mulligan, and Count Basie, as well as for recording a wide range of exceptional material throughout his career—from cool jazz to mellow fusion. This compilation features eight carefully selected tracks from the four albums he released on Impulse! between 1964 and 1967: Man from Two Worlds, Chic Chic Chico, El Chico, The Further Adventures of El Chico, and The Dealer—making it a definitive best selection. The lineup includes Gábor Szabó, Charles Lloyd, Charlie Mariano, Ron Carter, Larry Coryell, Richard Davis, and Jerome Richardson. The album is filled with groovy, Latin-infused, and pensively atmospheric tunes throughout, but the highlight is side B1, where Hamilton’s Afro-primitive drumming and vocal shouts meet Szabó’s psychedelic gypsy guitar for a truly stunning performance. Original U.S. pressing.q
A1: Forest Flower - Sunrise
B1: Conquistadores (The Conquerors)
B2: Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)
