Released in 1976 by Arion, a label specializing in folk music, this album features performances of Forro, a folk music from the hills of northeastern Brazil, performed by Coaty De Oliveira, a percussionist who has worked with Barden Powell and others. Forro is a folk music brought by Portuguese immigrants in the 19th century, and has developed into a unique form of music, characterized by the use of string instruments such as clarinet and violin. The style of B1 and B3 is shared by Gilberto Gil and Edu Lobo, and Capoeira B4 with berimbau is shared by Nana Vasconcelos.
