A 12-inch single released in 1987 by Cranioclast, the experimental sound unit from Hagen, Germany, comprised of Soltan Karik and Sankt Klario. Centered around the bunkers constructed by the German military along the western European coast from Norway down to France during World War II, this is a deeply compelling conceptual work that, through sound, text, photography, and artwork, conjures the uncanny illusion of relics from a lost civilization left in ruins. The A-side delivers ethno-industrial music driven by wild, repetitive percussion that evokes images of an ancient culture, while the B-side unfolds as dark ambient, with flute and voice suggesting some forgotten ritual from antiquity. Both are extended pieces running over 11 minutes. Highly recommended. Complete with booklet and flyer featuring bunker photographs and texts.
