Leader album by English bassist Dave Holland, released on ECM in 1973. The quartet with Sam Rivers(reeds,ft), Anthony Braxton(reeds,ft), Barry Altschul(per,mb). As one can imagine from the participating members, this is a free jazz session filled with the smell of New York loft jazz, and the avant-garde flavor typical of early ECM works can be fully appreciated. Holland's bass is cool, playing a bouncy melody in the center of the soundspace. A2 and A3 have ethnic sentiments and resonate with the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Original German pressing.
