David Borden/The New Mother Mallard Band
Anatidae
Cuneiform Records (Holland) 1985
Rune 4 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(SRW, SOC, some wear on edge and corner.)
media : EX-/EX-(some light noise.)
Formed with the full cooperation of Dr. Robert Moog, the inventor of the Moog synthesizer, and known as the world’s first synthesizer ensemble—collaborating with leading contemporary composers such as Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and John Cage—Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Company founder David Borden released this album in 1985. Guitarist David Torn, who has also released outstanding leader works on ECM, takes part as well. Like his 1985 album Mirage (featured in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION), this is a masterpiece of electronic contemporary music, where lyrical melodies subtly emerge within minimalism, creating a celestial sound world reminiscent of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians and Tehillim.
